Helping Hearts of VA provides comprehensive behavioral health services for individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges. Our services include Mental Health Skill-Building Services (MHSS), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Community Stabilization, Crisis Support Services, Care Coordination, and Peer Recovery Support Services. Our goal is to help individuals stabilize, recover, and achieve long-term independence.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept most Virginia Medicaid Managed Care Organizations, including Anthem HealthKeepers Plus, Aetna Better Health of Virginia, Sentara Health Plans, Molina Healthcare, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, and Virginia Medicaid Fee-for-Service. Self-pay options are also available.

We serve individuals throughout Virginia, including Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William County, Woodbridge, Stafford, Fredericksburg, Richmond, and surrounding areas. Many services are provided in the community, in the home, or virtually for added accessibility.
What is Mental Health Skill-Building Services (MHSS)?
MHSS is a community-based service that helps individuals develop the skills needed to live independently while managing their mental health. This includes coping strategies, medication support, daily living skills, communication skills, and maintaining stability in housing and employment.
What does your Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) include?
Our IOP provides structured therapeutic support while allowing individuals to continue living at home. Services include individual therapy, group therapy, relapse prevention, coping skills development, and peer support. Clients attend several days per week based on clinical need.
What does your Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) include?
PHP offers intensive daytime treatment that includes therapy, psychiatric support, medication management, crisis prevention, and recovery planning. Clients return home in the evening while receiving structured clinical support during the day.
What is Community Stabilization?
Community Stabilization is a short-term, intensive service designed to help individuals experiencing a mental health crisis remain safely in their home or community and avoid hospitalization. It includes crisis intervention, stabilization support, and care coordination.
